How you drive your car can determine how much money you will spend on gas as well. Here are some tips on driving your car as a way to save money on gas:

* If you have a standard transmission you should always drive in the highest gear possible. You need not keep switching.
* In many cars its gas efficiency will go down by 10% if you have the air conditioner running while you are moving. If you have a lower temperature setting on you’re A/C, use it. Turn it on until the car gets cooled down and then turn it off and let the fan circulate the cool air around instead. You should never run your AC with your windows open either.

When it comes to cars that were built after 1990 you don’t need to warm your car up in the morning. I would suggest that you drive the car gently in the first 5 minutes. The engine actually warms up better if it is driving instead of idling in your driveway.
* Driving the speed limit will help you out a little as well. Maybe by as much as 10%.
* Accelerate slowly when you are leaving the stop light. You are not in a race with the driver in the lane next to you. The fastest person through the intersection just gets to spend more money on gas. If you follow the tip for early shifting up, you won’t be accelerating all that much anyway.
* Try buying 87 octane gasoline which is regular. Read your car manual. Some vehicles are advertised telling you to use premium gasoline, but the owner’s manual actually says that 87 is fine.
* Turn the engine off when you’re stuck at a light or waiting for a train to pass and when you expect not to move for a few minutes. When the engine is idling and not moving, you end up with 0 mpg.
* Revving the engine is a huge waste of time and gas as well. Unless there is a mechanical problem with your car, there is no need to bother doing this before you turn your vehicle off. Consider fixing the actual problem instead before it turns into a more expensive problem later on.

Did you know that your driving impact how much gas your car uses? Here is a quick tutorial on how to driving to save fuel.

We don’t have control over the price per gallon of gasoline, but we can change how much we spend on gas each week by the way we drive. Here are some tips to start saving gas by changing your driving.

Think Twice Before You Drive
Avoid unnecessary trips and combine errand whenever possible. You can look into carpooling with a colleague, or sharing the responsibility of driving the kids to school or afternoon activities with other parents. Driving less is the most effective way to save gas. Get creative and come up with ways to get through your day without using the car as much.

Don’t Speed
Driving the speed limit can save you as much as 10% on your gas mileage. All you have to do is to stop speeding and take your time. You’ll be saving a few bucks a week on gas and don’t risk getting a speeding ticket and the fines involved.

Use The Highest Gear You Can
If you are driving a manual transmission, shift up earlier and drive in the highest gear your car can handle. You and your gar will go further on each gallon of gas.

Avoid Rush Hour And Busy Streets
Sitting in your car with the motor running while you’re not driving gives you gas mileage of 0 miles an hour. Avoid this by not driving in rush hour whenever possible. It may also be worth staying away from busy streets where you know traffic is going to be stop and go.

Turn Off The AC
Running your Air Conditioner in the car will worsen the gas mileage you get. Instead of relying on your AC to cool off the car, park in the shade whenever possible and use a reflective sun shade across the windshield. If there is a lot of heat in the car, open opposite doors for a minute before cranking your car to let the heat escape. Leave the air conditioning off or run it at the lowest setting whenever possible.

By changing just a few of your driving habits, you can make a difference in how far those $50 of gas will take you. Give it a try.

With raising prices at the pump, you may be wondering – how do I save money on gas? We share 10 tips on how you can save money on gas – starting today.

How do I save money on gas? Here are some tips on how you can accomplish just that. . Let’s look at them now!

* Don’t fill up the tank when prices are extremely high. Gas suppliers and gas station owners can charge high prices for gas because they know people will pay for it. By adding only a few gallons of gas to your car when prices are high gives you your say in the matter.
* Don’t drive when you don’t have to. Carpooling, walking, taking the bus, and riding a bike not only help you to save gas, but they are better for our environment and may be better for your overall health.
* Check the tire air pressures every week. If you buy a cheap manual air pump and an accurate tire gauge this will help you. Keep all of your tires inflated to the same pressure that is recommended. For help in determining this you can go by the sticker on the door frame not the one on the tire wall.
* Drive at a regular speed and keep the windows rolled up. Keeping the windows closed reduces the wind pull on your car. Sticking to the speed limit also helps. Use cruise control when you can.
Avoid letting your car idle. If you are going to be stopped for more than one minute, you will save gas by turning the car off and restarting when you are ready to go.
* Buy fuel on cold days and if you can, drive on the hot ones. When you buy on cold days, and pay for the volume instead, you will end up buying more gas for the same price.
* Park in the first spot you find; don’t hunt forever to find a better one.

Don’t fill your car until it is nearly empty. If you do this, it can extend your gas because you are hauling a lighter load as the tank looses gas. Just be careful about this in the winter as it can shorten fuel pump life.
* Take off slowly from a full stop. This is one change that can have a dramatic affects on your gas mileage. If you move out slowly, it will help save you money at the pump.
* Avoid having to stop when you can. If approaching a red light, see if you can slow down enough to avoid having to actually stop instead.
